29th Annual Eagle Point Canoe Classic (2023)
When: Saturday Aug. 26th 2023. Registration at 9:00am at the boat house. 18km race start at 10:00, 7km race start at 11:00.
Where: Eagle Point Marina
Events:
- 18km race: goes through Downton Lake to Nut Portage and then to the finish line via McGibbon Bay. 3 portages total.
- 7km race: goes down McGibbon Bay 3.5 kms, around a small islet and then back to the finish line. No portages.
Cost: $15/adult, $10/youth under 18 years old. Free BBQ Lunch!
Rules: all canoe welcome. paddlers with racing shells are warned that the longer race has sections of bog lake travel. Wind conditions may make shells too dangerous to use.
Lifejackets MUST be worn WITH whistle. Bailers and sponge recommended.
Prizes:
- 18km: 1st – $300, 2nd – $200, #3 – 100.
- 7km: cash prizes TBA.
- 7km under 18 years of age teams: 1st – $70, 2nd – $60. 3rd: $50. 4th – $40, 5th – $30.
- Other: fastest mixed team: $100, fastest female team (any style of canoe): $100.
